FORT WILLIAM, LOCH NESS & OBAN B673 Y673
|
| *Including The Isle of Skye |
|
| Lying at the foot of Ben Nevis, Fort William is a thriving tourist resort and natural touring centre for the Western Highlands, and is often referred to as the Gateway to the Hebrides. The town developed around a succession of strategically sited strongholds and forts at the southern end of the Great Glen and has today become the main town of the Lochaber District. So what is it that makes this area so special? Is it the high mountain peaks and deep glacial valleys, or is it the tranquil glens that have remained unspoilt, untouched and unchanged for centuries, and the clean fresh air? You decide as you sit back, relax and enjoy our jaunt through the Inner Hebrides and Western Highlands. * The Isle of Skye is only included in our 6 day summer itineraries |

INCLUDED EXCURSIONS
on 5 day tours
THE GREAT GLEN, LOCH NESS & INVERNESS – The geological fault of the Great Glen slices across the Highlands between Loch Linnhe and the Moray Firth. We drive through its wide open spaces to Fort Augustus where we follow the shoreline of Loch Ness past Castle Urquhart to Drumnadrochit, where many sightings of the famous monster ‘Nessie’ have been reported. We continue on to Inverness - Capital of the Highlands - for free time and exploring. On our six day tours between 30 May & 29 August we include a cruise on Loch Ness, keeping an ever-watchful eye out for Nessie! GLENCOE & OBAN – Mystical when shrouded in low cloud and majestic in the light of full sun, Glencoe was the scene of the famous 1692 massacre of Clan MacDonald. Our journey continues over Black Mount and the Bridge of Orchy to Oban, the unofficial capital of the Western Highlands. Our return takes in magnificent views of the Firth of Lorn and Barcaldine Forest, through the Strath of Appin then along the glittering shores of Loch Linnhe |

ADDITIONAL EXCURSION
On 6 day tours
ISLE OF SKYE & THE ROAD TO THE ISLES– A scenic drive through Glen Shiel, passing the Five Sisters peaks, brings us alongside the remote Eilean Donan Castle. The castle was destroyed by the English navy in the 1719 Jacobite uprising. Restored in 1932 as a clan war memorial and museum it stands in an idyllic island setting overlooking Loch Duich. We take the road bridge to the Isle of Skye, where we visit the Clan Donald Visitors Centre before taking the ferry back to the mainland from Armadale to Mallaig. From here our journey back to Fort William takes us through the wild and rugged terrain of Glenfinnan |
